thanksgiving feast (the tofurky is hiding in the back...)
we had so many things to be thankful for this thanksgiving, that it could take all day to record them all. but the highlights include: quality time with our family and friends (this includes our humanimals, bob and del), our health, our art, my healing leg!!!, the green movement and the fact that we are - despite many efforts to undermine our personal liberties and privacy - still free.

thanksgiving preparations...
exhibit a) whole cranberry sauce with orange zest and nutmeg
exhibit b) assorted vegetables marinating in veggie broth in anticipation of maƱana's Tofurky. needless to say, jake's thrilled about the idea of a "roast" on a traditionally carnivorous holiday. he is, after all, a veterinarian.

i love this woman...
Megan L. in southpark, san diego
aug 4
postcript: raison une - she has no problem with painting her nails in public. at the park. despite the fact that the mothers sitting next to us thought there might be some kind of toxic fume leaking from the ground. we clarified that it was just OPI.

one from the archives...
southpark, san diego
aug 4
postscript: the funny thing about this particular day is that meg and i descended upon a music festival in southpark that we thought would be a fun change of pace - and lo and behold, many a family with small children was present. there was a whole lotta funky white multi-generational groovin' happening on the lawn in front of the stage while the very loaded singer of one local blues band belted out "i just wanna make looooooove to youuuuuuuuu..." we would have been hard pressed to find a stranger scene. the evening proved even more serendipidous as we attended south bark's (home of the canine blueberry facial) double feature movie night (Lost Boys and Licensed to Drive) where we even enjoyed complimentary boar's head hot dogs. south park is nothing short of amazing.
